*** PRESS RELEASE March 27, 2019 ***
On this date, about 3:30 PM, dispatchers with Central Utah Dispatch received a call reporting that a young girl had been hit by a large SUV. The driver of the SUV had backed out of her driveway into a culdesac, then turned left to drive out of her neighborhood. At that point the 6 year old girl, riding a battery powered scooter, came down the incline of a neighboring driveway and into the path of the SUV. She was struck by the SUV and sustained extensive trauma to her upper body and head. There were initial efforts to revive the girl but her injuries were too severe and she was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the SUV has been cooperative and submitted to drug testing, which is a routine part of crashes like this. Investigators do not suspect negligence, carelessness, or impairment as factors, and initial test results are negative for drugs or alcohol. Based on information known at this time there will be no charges filed against the driver. When all family members have notified in this case we will release the name of the victim.
