Updated information from the US Forest Service as of July 1, 2019 regarding road openings in Utah County Canyons.
*** PRESS RELEASE July 1, 2019 ***
Loyal Clark, Public Affairs Officer with Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, has provided updated information regarding road and canyon openings in Utah County. The updates are as follows:
-Nebo Loop Road is now open from Payson to Nephi.
-Payson Lakes campground and all day-use sites are open.
-Blackhawk campground will remain closed for the summer.
-Trails and side roads are still muddy in some areas.
-Santaquin Canyon is open from the Nebo Loop turn off down to Tinney Flat campground, and from Santaquin to Trumboldt picnic site. A closure is still in place between Tinney Flat and Trumboldt due to excessive road damage from the avalanche this past April.
Officials with the U.S. Forest Service Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest strongly encourage visitors to the canyons and mountains to practice Tread Lightly tips when engaging in activities in these areas. With some off road areas still very wet and muddy damage can happen much easier than is typical in later summer.
